The way we treat others often has a domino effect society. The pain we inflict on others often last longer than we would imagine. Where pain is placed is not solely where it lies but it is projected onto its surroundings. In Maus II by Art Spielgelman the reader gets to learn about Art’s father Vladek’s traumatic experience in the holocaust. Throughout the book we get to learn about Vladek’s life and personality post holocaust. We also get to see how Vladek treats the people around him. From the interactions we see Vladek have with his family and people that he is very distrusting and critical of others.
