5. List the independent variable(s).

The independent variables for this study were the measures of LMS, POS, OS, intrinsic motivation, and depersonalization by managers and the organization has on employee deviant behavior.

The independent variables for LMX were taken from the current year’s employee survey of the employee’s responses to the questions that measured the quality of the relationship between employees and their managers. Questions were pulled out regarding the organization based on how the employee perceived the organization supporting them, valued them, and cares for them to identify POS and OS. To measure intrinsic motivation, questions from the employee survey were measured to determine the employee’s satisfaction with their job. In measuring depersonalization, questions were measured on how the employee felt about their manager.

The dependent variables were taken from employee personnel files to determine employee deviant behavior directed from the employee to an individual and the employee to the organization.
