My sample size for this research would be ranging from ages 3 to 18 years of age, the length of time would be very significant to get a true, reliable, and valid results, and the sample size would be 16 to 20 participants to cover all ages and a few more in case someone drops out or decided not to do it. The study design is on mostly the effects of the dog’s interaction with the participants and the changes in the children’s behavior with ASD. A survey and a questionnaire were used to get the significant and crucial details from the parent’s participants while reducing the resilient and stressful reaction that is apparent in a face-to-face interview done by this researcher and also to get a baseline of how and what type of interaction experiences …show more content…
By doing this, the study can get a range of results showing the experienced with animals vs. the non-experienced with animals. Children with exposure so animals whether their own household pets, or somewhere else, they are more easy to introduce to the animals and not be scared at all and trust is already developed even though it is not their pet. On the other hand, children with no exposure to animals, will be challenging at first, they will not open up or interact with animals as easy as the ones who are exposed to animals. The animals used will have to do their very best to gain that trust, have a relationship with the children at first, and children will see that these animals will not harm them. Every day, children are allowed to go home with their parents, and parent’s needs to observe their children of any signs of changes good and bad. The animals are not just household pets that can help the children relax, interact, and brings smiles to them, but the animals can bring forth the trust that the children with ASD might be reluctant to show to parents or other children without judgement that the animals do not do. The research contributes to the nursing knowledge by a non-pharmacological therapy that helps people live a healthier lifestyle without having to use medications. Making medication cost effective due to not needing to buy pills that might not be effective and might just cost more harm mentally and physically on children with
