The article I found was called Asian American Identity Development: A Culture Specific Model for Asian Americans. The article was written by Ibrahim, Farah Ohnishi, Hifumi Sandhu, Daya Singh. All three of these authors are very credible because they are Asian Americans, and have gone through the experiences these people face. Being a minority in America is tough enough, but living in the Southern part of America and being a minority is extremely difficult. Part of this has to do with the history the Southern part of America has. A good way to understand how Asians survive in America with the Southern culture is by seeing the facts in my article, and seeing the usefulness of how the article relates to my topic of being Asian in the South. …show more content…
Believe it or not, they make it look a lot easier then what it actually is. A major reason is that they’re a minority on there own country. The Author explained why the transition is easier then it may see, and said, “What is overlooked is the fact that Asian Americans understand White, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant values, beliefs, and assumptions from a colonized person's perspective. They have had the experience of being a minority in their own land, yet they never allowed the colonizers to take their dignity, identity, or belief systems away from them” (Farah 1). This explains why Asian Americans have a smoother transition when the come over to America.They already know that life won't be the easiest, and that they won't always be accepted, and how they survive in the Southern American
