Nordstrom is a leading fashion retailer that offers their customers compelling shoes, clothing, and accessories. On November 6, 2014, LIM College had a well-known insider on the fashion industry come and speak to the under classmate about the fashion industry. The guest speaker was the one and only Erik Nordstrom, who is one out of four CEOs of Nordstrom. Erik Nordstrom spoke at Townhouse, where he spoke about the history of Nordstrom Inc., its company’s growth and current development, and how he became to one of the four presidents of the company.
In 1901, Nordstrom opened its first doors to the consumers by John W. Nordstrom. But, before Nordstrom was a department store that serves over 38 states, it was just a simple independent store located in Seattle. In the 50’s, Nordstrom was the first biggest independent shoe store in Seattle. Then in 1971 it was opened to the public. Slowly, Nordstrom now has an e-commerce site, online store, and is also partners with HauteLook and is planning to grow with other. Its in this position due to their main focus is to Improve the customer service, this focus was created by John W. Nordstrom.
Nordstrom Inc. has been in business for over than 63 years. According to Erik Nordstrom, it has to do with their main focus: that’s improving their service for customer. This has made Nordstrom to become a synonymous with customer service in way no other department chain has, with the “Tire Refund”. Short Summery: The “Tire Refund” story is about a customer coming into one of the Nordstrom stores. The customer was thinking it was Commercial Company and wanted to return a car tire that he purchased. And the customer asked the “heroic” salesperson about a return; he gladly took the tire and gave the customer a refund, thanked him for coming in, and invited him to come back. This event made Nordstrom known for its one of kind customers experiences and mainly for their great services.
