The acclimatization of the indigenous populace into an oppressive society is a prevalent theme throughout history. From Columbian to modern times, colonial powers have spread their power by conquering countries all around the globe. In the aftermath of the initial takeover, such powers would assert their dominance over the native population, oppressing the once existing culture presiding there. However, while prominent in history, authors incorporate such distinct themes oppression and assimilation in their works of literature. Notably, in the well-noted novel, A Brave New World, has a distinctive thematic theme of postcolonial consequences through the main protagonist, John the Savage.
