Effective communication starts with getting to know a person. Knowing the likes and dislikes of them, their interests, and how they like to be addressed. Knowing all of this will give us the right tools to be able to adapt our teaching skills and meet the needs of individuals. There needs to be a mutual understanding between each person. If a information is being given to one person they need to ensure that the information given is being understood by both people. Showing respect and that your listening,keep your body language open and friendly for example sitting with your arms crossed and not looking at the individual when they are talking to you could show your not interested and this could damage the individuals trust in you and could cause them to not talk to anyone when situations arise which could put the person at risk. Showing respect when communicating to others as well as remembering issues which are personal to them. Be considerate to others and ensure that bad feelings from communication that has broken down is resolved as quickly as possible so that trust and confidence is not broken down and that a positive relationship can be maintained.

The principles of relationship building with children, young people and adults is to be as honest an transparent as possible with them, making sure you are clear on what you say and ensuring there is an established lines of effective communication so that everyone knows who's who. There is also a lot of communication which is non-verbal which is just as important as verbal communication such as face expressions, if some ones telling you something exciting and you look sad this will give the wrong non-verbal communication the the individual and that shows your lack of intresestto them. We have different gestures which can have different meaning in different cultures so ensure you know the bondries within the school and keep and up to date knowledge of this.

Try to establish a connection with people, find out if there is some common ground to start building a relationship for example an individual might have the same favourite colour as you. Find out how people like to be addressed, what interests do they have? Making your communication personal to the person who you are addressing to establish an effective communication.

We build relationships everyday in different ways and sometimes with out even recognising that we are doing it. Your body language is a massive part in
