Athens was very intellectual which made them superior to other city-states. Athens was a small city-state located on the coast of the aegean sea. They were more social than sparta because they weren’t isolated. The city-state that was superior was Athens because of their geography, lifestyle and government. Between the two city-states of athens and sparta I would have to choose Athens. Athens had the geographical advantage because of the placement of their city-state. Specifically Doc D states,“Athens became rich because Attica also had valuable sources of silver, lead and marble. Athens also had the biggest navy in Greece, because of this Athens had rich and fertile farmland to plant crops and collect minerals from their land. Sons of nobles went to high school for four more years of learning about the sciences and the arts and politics and government.” Now if Athens had people going to schools they would most likely have educated people and they could they could become more advanced like they build stuff to protect them or help in agriculture or the building of their city-state.
