On December 7, 1941, the United States naval base was attacked by the Japanese Navy Air service. The attack was known world-wide. The Japanese decided to attack Pearl Harbor when the United States placed an embargo on Japan from receiving crucial materials such as steel and aviation fuel. The United States decided to place this embargo because the Japanese tried to take over more territory in the U.S. Consequently, they attacked a U.S. base in a surprise air attack.
The attack on pearl harbor happened at around 7:55 a.m. and it lasted until 9:45 a.m. Those 110 minutes would never be forgotten. There were six different Japanese carriers that carried out the attack. They were: Akagi, Kaga, Aoryu, Hiryu, Shokaku, and Zukaku. The six aircraft carriers departed northern Japan in route to position northwest at Hawaii, intending to launch a total of 408 aircrafts to attack Pearl Harbor. The Japanese used bombs, torpedoes, and midget submarines to bomb-bard the U.S. The bombing killed many people; in fact, it killed a total number of 2,403 people.
