Have you ever read the book Kill a Mockingbird? The main character in this novel is Jean Louise Finch, also known as Scout. She lives with her father, Atticus Finch, brother Jeremy Finch, who is also known as Jem, and their maid Calpurnia. Scout is 7 years old, she understands and comprehends most information young children her age don’t. In this novel, they teach us many life morals. The lesson they teach us are courage, maturity, and growing up.

Scout has been through and learned an abundance of events, between the dog, Tom Robinson, the attack, and now meeting Arthur “Boo” Radley. They have showed courage through all of these events. Scout is taught by her brother, Jeremy showed courage by fighting Mr.Ewell when he attacked them. “Then all of a sudden somethin’ grabbed me an’ mashed my costume . . . think I ducked on the ground . . . heard a tusslin’ under the tree sort of . . . they were bammin’ against the trunk, sounded like.

This person is her Aunt Alexandra, who she calls Aunty, she is Atticus’s sister. She comes to live with the family because she feels that Jean needs to be taught on how to be a lady. When Alexandra calms herself after her, Jean, Jeremy, and Atticus are told the Tom Robinson was shot a killed, this showed Scout that sometimes courage is to hold back the feelings and don't let them show. When they went back into the living room Scout tells herself “ After all, if Aunty could be a lady at a time like this, so could I” (Lee 93). Scout is willing to try everything, when it showed her she strong mentally and physically.

After all of this Scout is still the same little 7 year-old as she was in the beginning. However, she was taught courage many times through the novel. Scout is a very strong young girl, between the attack, Tom Robinson, and all the other changes in Maycomb, she never let anyone leave for her life and accepted many into it too. How well do you know
