Auggie And Quarta In R. J. Palacio's Wonder

Have you ever been left out or felt like you don’t have any friends? Well, in the stories Wonder by R.J Palacio, Auggie gets bullied but stays positive and in the story The Girl Who Was Born With 2 arms and 2 legs by Stuart Baum, Quarta is the same way. Auggie from Wonder is similar to Quarta from The Girl Who Was Born With 2 arms and 2 legs. They are similar when they both get teased and bullied multiple times, but end up staying positive. One way both of these characters show they are positive is they stay strong even when they are different. Another way they stay positive is when they get teased they handle it well. As stated before, Auggie gets made fun of because of his face and because of his face disorder he can’t eat totally normal so that's another thing he get teased about. Now that Auggie has been teased so much he’s used to people being mean and teasing him about his face so to handle it he either ignores or laughs and jokes about it. For example, when another student was being mean and sending notes to him, Auggie responded with putting “funny” notes back in his locker. As you can see Auggie handled this situation very well and tried to stand up for himself in a non-snotty or mean way. Also stated before, Quarta gets teased because of having 2 arms and 2 legs. She gets laughed at and talked about, but that doesn’t usually get her down. She accepts that she's different and handles the teasing really well when people are trying to hurt her. For example, when Quarta had done nothing wrong a mean girl came up to her and told her she was “unfair and mean.” When the girl said this to her she just replied with something like“please explain.” This shows these characters accept that they are different and handle their issues well so they stay positive even when there’s times that they would like to be
