Australian shepherds have had many theories told as to where they originate from. Some say the Australian Shepherd originated in the Basque Region of the Pyrenees Mountains which is between Spain and France. The breed of the dog we know now is actually bred inside the United States. The breed received the name Australian because it was used by shepherds who were from Australia in the 1800’s. They were bred by these shepherds to help them with their livestock. These are the health statistics on the Aussie. The height of a usual Aussie are 6 inches to 1 foot and weigh 40 to 60 pounds. Aussies usually live from 12 to 15 years. The diseases that this dog can have is Hip Dysplasia, Elbow Dysplasia, Epilepsy, Deafness, Osteochondrosis Dissecans,
