In the video “Autism,” speaker Wendy Chung states that the idea of Autism being caused by vaccines is a common misconception that is not true. She also states that the original research study was “fraudulent” and that the physician had his medical license revoked for such accusation. There is no evidence that suggest that vaccines cause Autism. Building off this, Autism is not all caused in the same way. As discussed by Chung, there are many factors that may contribute to the cause of Autism such as: advanced paternal age, exposure to certain agents such as medications while the fetal brain is developing, and infectious agents.
Autism is in fact genetic, however, unlike cancer, heart disease, or diabetes, genetics play a larger role in Autism.
