The pervasive developmental disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), has an affect on language, behavior and social interactions. The term "spectrum" reflects the wide variation in challenges and strengths possessed by each person with autism. ASD is a lifelong disability in which children tend to relate to people, objects and events in abnormal ways.
