Sara Walker, dropped off her nine-year-old daughter, Autumn Walker, Asia M. Hamlin-Flood’s sister, at Charlene Jenkins, Autumn’s Aunt, for a playdate with her cousin, Sasha Jenkins. Autumn's aunt and uncle have a dog named Kemba. Kemba is an Australian shepherd lab mix who has no past history of violence, with other dogs or people. Autumn has visited with her Aunt and Uncle several times with the dog present and has never had any problems. While at the Jenkins’ household, Autumn played with Kemba, in the kitchen alone. Charlene Jenkins and Sasha were in the living room watching television, the kitchen leads into the living room and are in close proximity. While playing, Autumn realized that Kemba had a command strip stuck on his back. Autumn tried to take the command strip off Kemba’s back. Kemba was startled, and he turned around and bit Autumn on the leg. Autumn suffered a bite wound on her leg, she then had to go to the hospital to receive care for her bite wound. Autumn’s wound was cleaned and bandaged and she was put on antibiotics. Autumn suffered an infection in her healing wound a week later and was placed on more medication.
