BALTIMORE- On a sunny Friday afternoon, Avon Barksdale, a respected drug dealer and drug kingpin of the Barksdale Organization in West Baltimore, was arrested in his office by the Baltimore Police. Barksdale was born on January 8, 1970. He grew up in the terrace high-rises of West Baltimore. As a teenager, Barksdale developed an interest for sports, being a former amateur boxer. However, he was constantly in trouble around the city with his old friend and future partner, Russell Stringer Bell. Barksdale was taught by his father, a successful drug dealer, how to survive in "the game" at an early age. McNulty response was simple and short. “Your homie gave you up boy”. The “homie” who McNulty referred to was Stringer Bell. Stringer Bell, who was in contact with the Major of the Western District Howard "Bunny" Colvin in the night before the arrest, was the source of information that helped the Baltimore Police to make the arrest. Apparently, the reason was that Stringer Bell were almost reaching his goal to became a successful businessman and quit “the game”. However, Barksdale did not like this idea, because he needed him to manage the organizations’ money. Consequently, Stringer Bell would do anything to succeed on his plan, even disposed to commit his old friend to the police. Now, with Barksdale out of the game, Stringer will be able to follow his plans, without worry with the Baltimore Police, even though he was a drug dealer. The Major of the Western District Howard “Bunny” Colvin gave this information on this Saturday afternoon at the official press conference. “We know all the bad things that Stringer have done for our society. However, our focus was to capture the drug kingpin and we would not be able to do it without an internal information.
