When completing research on subjects, there is an ethical standard that must be taken account. When looking further into ethical practices, it is defined as forming standards of conduct a given profession or group (Page 25) (Maxfield, and Babbie, 2012). Although, Dr. Ruth Decker come to the conclusion that University of Wisconsin-Madison’s School of Medicine was considering conducting highly controversial experiments of baby monkey’s (Decker, Change.org). There are those who believe this act to be unethical considering the use of animals, but the researchers conducting the experiments could have prevented this misunderstanding by taking precautions.
The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s School of Medicine responded to Dr. Ruth’s Petition explaining

The methods for the modern work were selected specifically because they can reliably create mild to moderate symptoms of anxiety in the monkeys. They were chosen to minimize discomfort for the animals, and to minimize the number of animals required to provide researchers with answers to their questions” (WISU.edu).

• “There is no “solitary confinement.” The animals live in cages with other monkeys of their own age, a method of care called peer rearing. This method is often used when mothers reject their infant monkeys, which happens regularly in situations from nature to zoos to clinical nurseries with first-time mothers or following caesarean-section births. In a group setting, even veterinarians would have difficulty distinguishing the peer-reared animals from those that that were maternally reared” (WISU.edu).
The following correction above allowed the researchers to reassure any speculations that have been stated in Dr. Ruth’s petition to be discredited. The University put to rest all problems that were described in an experiment that was conducted previously (WISU.edu). The researchers also considered problem that could occur during the experiment, and addressed what procedures that will occur if those problem do occur in the response
