Bacon's Rebellion was an uprising in 1676 in the Virginia Colony in North America, led by a 29-year-old planter Nathaniel Bacon. It was against American Indians and the colonial government in the Virginia Colony over taking retribution action for alleged crimes by the Native Americans. The three underlying causes of Bacon’s Rebellion included imperialism, colonialism, and cultural clashes. By the 1600's most of the South American was in control of Spain and Portugal, while North America was mostly unclaimed. When European came to America they brought the system of colonialism with them, which led them to take over Indian colonies. The cultural clashes between the European and Indians led to conflict which was the major part of the Bacon Rebellion.
