As lights dimmed, dry ice appeared from the bottom of the octagon shaped French tile floors as fashion favorites and A-list celebrities took to their upholstered satin black seats.

The guest list was gleaming. Linda Fargo, Carine Roitfeld, and even Kimye and baby North all had reserved seats in the front row anxious to see what Alexander Wang produced for his ready-to-wear collection for next Spring and Summer.

This year, the designer’s urban aesthetic was surely seen. Models strut the transparent runway in racer sunglasses, maxi overcoats, and athletic mesh overlay. There were midi dresses worn with a variety of bandeaus, micro-mini shorts and skirts, and a variety of floor-length trench coats in shades of off-white and black. Some models sported black jumpsuits that had embellished pockets playing into the chic and sporty theme Wang created. Wang made sure to pay homage to Cristobal Balenciaga using tonal embroideries and geometric lines.

Wang chose to stick to this seasons’s color pallets, lots of nude, black, white, and the occasional pop of soft powdery pinks and lavenders. Beaded textures were also seen a lot along with lots of chiffon and netted dresses with unique silhouettes. The tops and blouses were very sheer, showing off a lot of shoulder.

It was a very modern approach that worked perfectly. It was eloquence, mixed with a little bit of retro sporty Matrix.

The
