Ballet Hispanico Ballet Hispanico celebrates culture and their beliefs in dance. This division celebrates the dynamic aesthetics of the Hispanic Diaspora, sharing the joy of dance withal communities. Ballet Hispanico is the world leading Latino dance company founded by Tina Ramirez in 1970 On June 22, 2013 the dance classes (ballet) went to the Apollo to see a few of the dances performed by Ballet Hispanico. The first danced was entitled “Club Havana.” This dance was done at a fast tempo. Even though the tempo was fast, there were many ways to see the dancer’s movement due to the use of the stage. The dancers performed in groups/ couples, each wearing dull shades of bright colors. However it was played out in the way that it would not distract you from the dance. The dance, “Sombrerisimo” was a full on male production with everyone costumed with hats. The music was very fast and so were the movements. The men were placed in a way that at any view, it looks spotless. For example, at one point the dancers were in the shaped of a “v”. There were many stunts in this dance. This dance had a very light swing to it. The lighting was bright to emphasize the playfulness and the theatrical aspect of this dance. The last dance I am going to talk about is “Umbral”, which reflects on the Mexican traditions of Dia de los Muertos, which is also known as the Day of the Dead.
