After the introduction to the Intelligence Squared debate, Ban College Football, Malcolm
Gladwell argues for the motion. He introduces his argument that football is too dangerous of a sport. Gladwell utilizes logos to show the danger of football. “It is not unusual in the course of a game for a player to sustain hits to the head of between 40 and 100 Gs.”, says Gladwell. Gladwell compares football to a car crash in order to emphasize the danger of the sport saying, “If you reversed your car and over the course of the next three months drove it at 25 miles an hour into a brick wall 1,000 times, that would be the equivalent of a college football season.”
After Malcolm Gladwell’s opening argument, Tim Green proceeds to argue against the motion.
