In the article “Your Local News-Dateline Delhi”, Barbara Ehrenreich explains bitterly that outsourcing has done nothing but the worst to the United States. Jobs that have been secure throughout the years are no longer safe, and the people from different countries are getting just as a good education as Americans and are overtaking their jobs. In Fareed Zakaria’s article, “The Rise of the Rest” he portrays outsourcing as a positive. He shows that “the rest” have improved their own economies and are reaching their potential. Barbara Ehrenreich has every right to fear globalization. Yet Zakaria sees that the United States outsourcing has done nothing but helped the rest of the world globalize; however, the U.S. forgot to globalize themselves. …show more content…
She says, “in the globalized future Americans would be the world’s brains while Mexicans and Malaysians would provide the hands”(609). Americans have got comfortable with their jobs and have let the foreigners do the labor. As outsourcing was growing, more and more Americans didn’t know how to respond other than to get mad at the ones who stole their jobs. However Zakaria explains that other countries have been growing economically, “countries all over the world have been experiencing rates of economic growth that were once unthinkable”(612). He shows that it is not just America that is doing great economically. As unemployed America grows angry at outsourcing, foreign countries are becoming smarter, more efficient, and finding ways to improve their economy like America’s. Those that have been outsourced have become more strong and more capable than ever. Ehrenreich sees the surface of the problem. She only sees Americans out of work because of outsourcing. However Zakaria digs deeper into outsourcing and shows that outsourcing has helped other countries
