One could only image what it is like to grow up in a village in Liberia and to walk everywhere because you cannot afford proper transportation. Most people, especially in Minnesota have the luxury to live in a house and have other means of transportation. Unfortunately, this is not the case for this Liberian woman. This is the story of Barbara Goe (B.G (2016)) her life from Liberia to Minnesota and how her community views mental illness. B.G (2016) is a West African woman, who was born in Gbarnga, Liberia on June 23, 1964. According to B.G (2016), "it is a very poor country and one would have to rely on their family who lived in the United States to take care of them." For B.G (2016), that changed eight years ago when she moved to Brooklyn Park, Minnesota to start her life all over again. However, if this does not work the person who is mentally ill becomes a danger to those in the house the family would be forced to kick them out leaving them to fin for themselves. Psychotherapy and hospitalization are out for many of the people who live in Liberia, because you would have to pay before being seen by a doctor. This is impossible for most uneducated people who barley could make ends meet. With that being said, B.G (2016) is an extraordinary woman who overcame a lot of optical in her life. After, coming to the United States and gaining a new persecution on mental illness, she plans in the future to open a mental health facility in her country. Since B.G (2016) big move to the United States she has developed a new understanding of mental illness and feels that proper medication and hospitalization would help so many more in
