Barbie Dolls: A Qualitative Study

This is an article that explains were there has been a debate over the influences of Barbie dolls on girls developing self concept and body image as well. There were two of the qualitative studies that were supposed to gather the information on early adolescent’s experiences with, and the views on the Barbie doll. In the first study group its focus group was with sixth grade girls indicated that they have an unclear feeling towards the doll and the image it represents. The results for study 1 group were that Barbie dolls are pervasive within girls’ experience and may influence their developing self-concept.
