Camp Valley forge, where skeletons walked, disease abides, and the people there came back stronger than before. At the mention of valley forge many words come to mind. Words such as: shortage, food, clean water, disease, leaders, stronger, and victory. Valley forge, an event in history that forever changed the American Revolution. It was here where the will power of patriotism and leaders such as Washington, Baron Von Steuben, and Marquis de lafayette paved the way to victory, for the American’s.
On December 19,1777, Washington and his troop’s established in Valley Forge. Washington and his approximate 11,000 troops were forced to settle in Camp Valley Forge after the capture of the Continental’s capital, Philadelphia, by the British. According to The Dictionary of American History, “The site provided convenient access to key roads, nearby military supplies, local farmlands, and a nearby health resort that could serve as a hospital for troops.”Yet this was about all the benefits Camp Valley Forge had to offer.

His name was Baron Von Steuben. Steuben was born in Germany, and spent most of his adolescence in Russia. He returned to Germany to be schooled by the Jesuits and at the age of 17 was a Prussian officer of the military. He served in the seven years war, but at the age of 33 in 1763 was discharged from captain of the army. Failing to find financial funds he returned to Germany. Till in 1777 Steuben was recommended to Washington by Benjamin Franklin.
