Many modern individuals can be classified as tragic heroes. For example, Barry Bonds, a former player for the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants, is one of these individuals. Because he possesses all of the characteristics, Bonds can be classified as a Shakespearean tragic hero. Born in Riverside, California, on July 24, 1964, into a well-known, baseball-loving family, Barry Bonds was soon on the path to becoming a great athlete (3).
