As I got down and ready for the pitch to be delivered to the nervous batter. With the game on the line like this there was no room for mistake, I got down in the all too familiar ready stance that I have perfected the way that I like it, there was no room for mistake. I felt a drop of sweat run down my face and come to a stop at the edge of my chin, as I drops to the ground and lands on the soft compact mixture of sand and dirt underneath me. Everything seemed to stop at that specific moment, I could smell the aroma of the freshly cut grass that in the outfield that stood tall just a couple of feet behind me. Crack! I heard the sound of a baseball being hit against a bat, my body reacted just as it had hundreds of times before. Baseball has influenced me greatly through my life, it has taught that me that you can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it. Throughout my life I have always played the sport even when I was faced with difficult choices. I have played football throughout my life as well, but when I was in the 8th grade I talked with my parents about picking one sport and staying with it and focusing on it. Fortunately for me I decided to stay with baseball and I am still happy with the decisions that my 8th grade self made 2 years ago. Every time I finish a baseball game or practice and kneel before my coach I get to relax for once. I get to appreciate the things I have done and be proud about them knowing that I have come such a long way from where I once was. I don't have to worry about school, or coming back home and doing chores, I get to break free from all that. It all comes back to my dad taking his time to teach me, all those years
