Throughout those sports, it is likely that most are similar, but two specific sports often are compared, without recognition of their own, are softball and baseball. How can two sports look and seem similar when they are actually different? Softball is a sport that involves the same number of players, same positions, and concepts as in baseball, but the two sports are actually different in the aspects of innings, pitching style, and distance.

The game of baseball is worldly known, and played with all the same rules and regulations. The pitching style of baseball is the classic over-hand throw, averaging at a speed of 90 mph (miles per hour). Also, baseball pitchers pitch on an elevated mound. (Rhodes). There are four bases, first, second, third, and home base, which are spread out in a diamond shape. The standard distance between the bases in baseball is 90 feet (Mann). Additionally, the length of official baseball games consists of 9 innings, each inning giving both teams a chance to score points before getting 3 outs (Mann).
