The battle of Antietam was known as the bloodiest day in us military history. The battle of
Antietam was just one of the many battles fought in the civil war. Antietam was fought in three different locations. The first location fought was in a 30 acre corn field. The second battle was called Sunken Road. And finally the last battle Burnside’s Bridge. The date that the battle of
Antietam started was september 17 1862. The north's president was Abraham Lincoln and the south’s president was Jefferson Davis. The north’s General was George B McClellan with
60,000 men, and the south’s General was Robert E Lee with 40,000 men.

McClellan.
Their Generals, the south had the best Generals in warfare. Their generals were Robert E Lee and Stonewall Jackson. Unfortunately Stonewall was killed in friendly fire before the battle of
Antietam. But Robert E Lee had something that not all generals had and that was that he gambled his guess on where to attack and was right. Unlike the north General McClellan was not the best according to president Abraham Lincoln McClellan had a case of the slows. This is because when the north was winning in a battle and the south would retreat. Instead of the north going to go finish them off George McClellan hesitated and would not. McClellan said that he did not want to destroy the south that he just wanted to beat then enough for them to quit and join with the north.
