Introduction
My chosen resource out of the 2 rocks given, is bauxite (aluminium). The reason for this choice is because aluminium is used in our everyday life and is seen everywhere. Did you know that in 2011, Australia produced the largest amount of bauxite in the world with 74.9 million tonnes produced. The discovery of bauxite was found by P. Berthier a French chemist. Founded in 1821, investigations of specimens were found close by to Les Baux in southern France. Hans Christian Oersted, a Danish chemist was the first to find small parts of aluminium in bauxite. 2 years after the discovery of aluminium Friedrich Wöhler, a German chemist was able to discover and new and different way of extracting aluminium.

All the money we receive from mining this resource is our source of making new mines and buying mining tools. This also helps us with getting jobs. Most of Australia’s money has come from mining bauxite and other minerals and rocks. We also transport a lot of bauxite and aluminium to other places as well. We can receive a lot of money from exporting minerals and rocks.
The disadvantages of mining bauxite can be the disruption it can make. This may disrupt nearby areas with the explosions and drilling from open mining. The cost of mining bauxite may also be expensive and mining this ore can take a lot of money and time as it must go through processes to extract aluminium from the bauxite ore. Another disadvantage can be dust and noise caused by moving trucks and open mines. The landscape may be changed as the soil has been removed and placed

This means that when the resource has been used it can’t be recycled or brought back. Therefore, mining bauxite and extracting the aluminium from the ore is expensive. One idea to keep this resource from not being wasted is reusing the same thing as aluminium foil. Instead of throwing the piece of foil away. We can re-use the piece for next time. There are many ideas and key features to help this world recycle used products or resources that haven’t been used. Another disadvantage is that making this, and all the processes used are very expensive and can take a long time for these processes to
