This shrine is a holy collection at the sites of Shinto at Ise. The collection of the shrine is usually called Ise Jingu. The shrine has been in existence for almost two centuries and their origins are legendary. The shrine is also called the Grand shrine of Ise and it is a principal shrine of Shinto which is a religion in Japan. It is located in the city of Ise in Mie. The mandala which is a cosmic diagram of the universe based on the concept of circle and square. The circle which represents the cycle of life, death and reincarnation while the square represents the 4 cardinal directions. The main buildings in the shrine is destroyed and reconstructed every 20 years and the ceremony is known as the Shikinen Sengu. This has been a tradition that has been there since the 7th century and it has been performed regularly ever since. The reconstruction of the inner shrine happened October 2 and outer shrine in October 5 1993. After the shrine is destroyed, white pebbles are put across the site and a post is erected in the center.
