Bear Bryant was known for being the greatest football coach of his time. He knew how to intimidate and inspire his players (Dunnavant 162 E). He grew up playing football and other sports but grew a passion for football and knew that, that is what he wanted to do for his career. He grew up poor and as he got older he made more money by playing and coaching football. He was loved by his players and other people around the world. Bear Bryant’s parents were William Monroe and Ida Bryant (“Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant” 1). He was the twelfth child of the eleven children (“Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant” 1). Some of Bear Bryants other names are Bryant, Paul William; Bear, and The Titan of Tuscaloosa (“Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant” 1). He received the nickname “Bear” after wrestling a muzzled bear at a carnival (“Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant” 1). After the death of his father's death, they moved to Fordyce, Arkansas (“Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant” 1). Bear Bryant attend their high school and participated in football, baseball, basketball, and track (“Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant” 1). He played on the team in 1930 Arkansas state high school football champion team as offensive end and defensive tackle (“Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant” 1).

After Bryant’s death, heartfelt eulogies describes what he meant to Alabama, to coaching and to his players they made a book called The Legend of Bear Bryant (“Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant”). Bear Bryant always said, “If you believe in yourself and have pride and never quit, you will be a winner” (“Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant”). Paul Bryant helped lead the Crimson Tide to the national championship in 1934 (Dunnavant 162 A). Although he guided the Crimson Tide to the thirteen SEC titles, Bryant stood for more than winning ; he was a role model (“Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant”).
