In Fahrenheit 451, the most important character thus far is Beatty. Beatty is such an interesting character. Throughout Part Two, “The Sand and the Sieve”, Beatty makes Montag question himself and his actions on several occasions. Beatty fits about all of the traits of being a dystopian hero yet he is so absorbed in the society. In the beginning of Part Two, Montag recalls his encounter with an old man long ago named Faber. Montag remembers that Faber told him he was a retired English professor and gave Montag his address and phone number. Montag calls Faber and tries asking questions related to books and literacy, but Faber answers abruptly and suspiciously because of course, he was speaking to a fireman. Montag, still very curious, decides
