Thinking about having a career at first was a blur for me. It took me going through three majors at Virginia State University until I found the career that fits me. I chose to become a dental assistant for a couple of reasons. I grew up in a single-parent home, and money was scarce. My mother did not finish high school because she got pregnant with my oldest sister. So, finishing school and starting a career was important to her and me. My grandmother was a dental assistant for many years. She is the one who introduced me to her field of worked and motivated me to follow in her footsteps. Last but not least I always had a thing for good breath and white teeth, so why not become a dental assistant.

I watched my grandmother be a dental assistant since I could remember. She worked in a small private office five days a week. She taught me how important it was to brush and floss twice a day. I especially admired

Your appearance means in a lot in the world today. What I look at first when I meet someone is their smile. I would sometimes sit around and reconstruct someone's teeth in my head. Being that art is my hobby I am good at painting pictures and fixing pictures in my mind. Dental assistants also construct art. Whether it is creating a mold to create dentures, or drawing up how someone's mouth structure should be and what you are going to do to fix it. Going into this field I can interpret my hobby of art and put it into my work.

I chose to be a dental assistant for many reasons. I can continue my grandmother's legacy, and put what I saw her do at work into play in my own career. I can work in a positive family orientation environment. I was mostly drawn to this career, because of the money I will be making. Also, becoming a dental assistant only take seven months not four years, and I have no more time to waste on starting my career. In conclusion, being a dental assistant fits me all around and I am excited to start my
