The juvenile probation officer is in charge of supervising youths who are on probation or patrol. My chosen career path is to become a social worker or a juvenile probation officer and help troubled kids. Juvenile probation officers are in charge of working with the juveniles and their families. They want to improve the lives of the juveniles and help them stay out of trouble. The function of the juvenile probation system is to rehabilitate and protect juveniles. I want to pursue this career to work personally with the juveniles and care for them.

Some common degrees are criminal justice, social work, sociology and other majors that are suitable for the career. The probation officers must have training in juvenile law, counseling, suicide prevention and many more in order to help juveniles. There is specific training to help officers understand the development of juvenile’s brain and understand their backgrounds. All the training that is required to become a probation officer is to help create family interactions with the juveniles and successfully understand and help the juvenile. The average salary the Juvenile probation officer makes is between 25,000 to 50,000 dollars, but the average officers salary is around 52,000 dollars (Juvenile Probation Officer Salaries). It depends on how much experience and year’s the officer has that will determine their salary. Probation officers help juveniles search for an education, go through treatment programs, such as substance abuse or mental health programs and make them feel safe and …show more content…
I want to obtain my masters in social worker, but after researching the Juvenile Probation Officer career in detail, I want to pursue this career. My main goal is to make a difference in juvenile’s lives and interact with them. I want to talk to the juveniles and be part of their lives so they have someone they can talk to.
