A nurse assistant is an easy way to start a medical career field and can be a better pay. Nurse assistant is a great career for those who enjoy taking care of others. It takes a lot of patients and compassionate for this job. It will be like taking care of a baby because their job is to care, feed, and help the patient change into their clothes. Also if the patient needs to go to another room for therapy or for a treatment, the nurse assistant will be there to help. Nurse assistants just have to follow the instructions that the licensed nurses tell them to do. “A nurse assistant (also called nurse aides, orderlies, or hospital attendants) work under the supervision of nurses and handle much of the personal care needs of the patients” (Ferguson 2952). The nurse assistant needs to keep a nurse up to date with any different changes of the patient’s health. If the blood pressure or body temperature changes in the patient, the nurse assistant needs to immediately tell the nurse. First, the students will learn about personal care and about the basic skills. Second, the students will be attending a nursing home or hospital for clinicals. Clinicals are actual observations and treatment of patients. Students will have 1 year from the day their given the certificate to take their state exam. The state exam will allow the student to be licensed as a nurse assistant. “Sometimes where ever you apply they will waive your state exam so you will be able to take it for free” (Ramanda Chappell). If a CNA gets a job before taking their state exam they could ask their health facility if they could waive their exam. They could say no but usually they pay the CNA’s exam.
