Being a citizen of the United States of America is truly a blessing. One is authorized freedom from the day he or she is born. As a citizen of this extraordinary country, one possesses certain rights and privileges. From the start, one has the life many would call, “The American Dream.” Along with freedom, one needs to possess responsibility.
Responsibility is necessary in order to get through life. Not only does one need to be responsible for oneself, but for his or hers country. Many veterans and those who are on active duty are the reason we the people are free. They are the reason we have a strong government. They are the reason we have the Amendments. The First Amendment grants us freedom of speech, religion, and press. The Second Amendment grants us the right to bear arms. The Third Amendment cannot arrest anyone without a warrant. The Fourth Amendment protects us against unreasonable search and cruelty. The Fifth Amendment grants us the rights if accused of a crime. The Sixth Amendment grants us the right to be trialed by jury in criminal cases. The seventh amendment grants us the right to trial by jury in civil cases. The Eighth Amendment prevents cruel and unusual punishments. The Ninth Amendment states our rights are not limited to those in the Constitution.
