The small suburb of Quarry Hills in Bendigo was the place where she grew up, where she first learnt to walk, speak, laugh and do all the things a growing child would do. People would expect for one to be so dearly attached to such a place, but for her the house treasures nothing but haunting memories of one cold night that sacred her for life and left her fearful of the dark.
Her small feet quickly scamper around the semi-dark bedroom, which was only lit by a dim chandelier that hung over her head. The wheezing Victorian breeze causes the dead branches to scrape against the arch-shaped windows, resulting in a small bubble of fear to form within her naïve mind as she settles upon the neatly made bed. Clutching onto her cuddly brown teddy bear for dear life as she begins to count the small amount of days left before her father was to return home. Her mother never disclosed what her father’s job was but she knew that flew jet planes and would wear a dark blue uniform. Her contemplation is cut short as she now begins to ponder, ‘Where is mummy hiding?’
The slow minutes that had past felt life eternity which nonetheless began declining her hopes as her naïve mind though of the worst, ‘Did mummy leave me?’ Just the thought of being by herself startled her to the core as she began

Swiftly wiping her tears with the back of her soft and tiny palms she hops off the bed and runs towards the bathroom in the hopes that she would now be able to engulf her mother in a tight and warm hug. Reaching up on her tippy toes she clutches the cold metallic door knob and giggles as she effortlessly glides it open making it hit with a loud thud against the white tiles of the bathroom as her eyes train down towards a figure on the floor, one that was motionless and lying in a pool of crimson blood, as a quivering word leaves her dry lips,
