Multitasking is a very important life tool, but for that tool to be effective and useful it must be used correctly. There is no reason to why such an important tool should go to waste. Many people multitask but it becomes a troublesome habit when it interferes with something that is very important. So to be able to see an increase in progress, people must take this habit and turn it into something that will push them forward.

Not everyone agrees with multitasking though. Multitasking can sometimes drag people down or inhibit them from reaching their full potential. According to Lori Aratani students who multitask may be getting good grades but they could get even better grades if they focused entirely on their material at hand. That does not mean that multitasking is entirely bad it is just an example of how multitasking incorrectly could affect our work. Afterall Lori Aratani also mentioned in her article that multitasking is necessary for this tech savvy generation but for it to evolve into a good trait it should be done correctly. Multitasking is not here to make life hard it is here to make things easier and to find quicker ways to accomplish multiple activities.

Mike Williams says that multitasking can be very good as long as it is done correctly. Only one highly cognitive activities if you’d like to do them. A highly cognitive activity would be studying, or writing an essay while a low cognitive activity would be listening to music since it uses another part of the brain or baking a cake. Someone could easily study for an upcoming test while a cake is baking in the oven but someone would not be able to get in as much information from studying while texting a friend in a chat room.
