Criminals are on the streets freely everyday. Rapist, serial killers, drug dealers and everything you can name, we aren’t doing anything but arguing about the issue. Benjamin Franklin quoted “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” Benjamin Franklin shows that we should give up liberty to get our safety we don’t deserve either. However, sometimes important things must be abandoned to have something important. Liberty is a very important thing. Liberty is a very needed thing, but we have liberty because of safety. According to Mike Kublic, “finding the correct balance between the benefits of police protection from potential danger, and the harm to freedom.” (Stop and Frisk: Right or Wrong?) This quote is saying that we all have certain balances between liberty, freedom and safety. If you think having all the freedom that you could want with little security would be amazing. Along, Locke stated his ideas about human equal opportunity. Locke believed that all people should be “equal one amongst another without subordination or subjection”. Locke main beliefs were based on humans rights and society, however, all of the focuses were on his main idea which was freedom. If we want to have the “perfect freedom” we need to do something that will keep us to be safe. That freedom includes how we use our property and bodies and cannot harm ourselves or others and no theft should be allowed. If we don’t have any safety, what is liberty?
