A Man who was Fabulous with words The famous friendly Benjamin Franklin was born in the year 1706, seventy years before the deceleration of Independence was signed. Unfortunately Ben never received any formal education, this didn't hinder his learning instead it pushed him to educate himself as thoroughly as possible. When he was older he started a printing shop in Philadelphia. At his shop he printed the Pennsylvania Gazette. He also printed the Poor Richards Almanac. His almanac was full of fun witty sayings that included “three can keep a secret if two of them are dead.” He also printed wise sayings in his Almanac such as “a penny earned is a penny saved.” His famous paper was popular from 1732-1758, he stopped printing only eighteen years before the declaration of Independence was signed. …show more content…
He tried many times to prevent the war and smooth things out with the King. Unfortunately the King was as obstinate as a younger sibling asked to give up his dessert. Ben Franklin actually offered to pay for all the tea that was wasted at the Boston Tea Party if the king would only remove the taxes on the irate colonists. But the King remained an obstinate fool and refused. After returning from England, where he was trying to reason with the unreasonably king, Ben Franklin signed the famous Declaration of Independence. Once the revolutionary wars started Ben set off to France to ask for aid. The French aided America and sent soldiers, ammunition, and other things that were needed. In fact 90% of the gunpowder used in the revolutionary war was delivered from France. In 1787 Ben Franklin went back to England to negotiate the terms of the Treaty of Paris with the King.
