The first thing I would do in this situation is calm Benjamin down as much as possible since it is obvious he is scared and he has urinated in his pants. After getting Benjamin to calm down I would explain to him that running away from the police is a serious offense and he shouldn’t have tried to run away. Next, I would explain to Benjamin the consequences of smoking marijuana and what it can do to his body and how bad it is for him especially since he has asthma. I would also explain to Benjamin, if he fears the other two individuals would not invite him to any more activities unless he participates in their illegal activity then those two are not real friends and if he needs help finding better people to hangout with I could provide information …show more content…
After explaining all of this to Benjamin I would then notify him that I will not be arresting him but I would also make sure he knew that if I really wanted to I could arrest him and charge him as an adult. At this point, if Benjamin were stilling living at home with his parents I would escort him home and notify his parents of his whereabouts and the activities he was participating in while at the park. Once leaving Benjamin at his home I would proceed to locate the other two juveniles that were involved in the incident. After locating the other two juveniles at their homes I would make contact and notify all their parents about the incident and what their children were doing at the park and also that they ran from a police officer. After notify the parents of the incident, I would then write tickets for both juveniles that ran from the park for evading a police officer. If I saw these two juveniles smoking the marijuana when I first made contact at the park I would also write them a ticket for the marijuana. Before writing any type ticket I would ask to speak with the juveniles in front of their parents and explain to them the harmful effects drugs can have on the body and mind. I would also tell them they type of life they could have if they keep participating in illegal activities such as
