Beowulf Why Do We Need Heroes

Do we need heroes? I think yes.

What is the definition of a hero to me? Someone who you can look up to, someone you can trust in, and even someone that does for the good of others. In the book “Beowulf” by an anonymous Anglo-Saxon poet , Beowulf explains to Hrothgar that he will kill Grendel for him in this quote, “"How many times have my men sworn to stay after dark and stem that horror with a sweep of their swords. And then, in the morning, this mead-hall glittering with a new light would be drenched with blood, the benches stained red, the floors, all wet from that fiend's savage assault-and my soldiers would be fewer still death taking more and more” (Beowulf 38). Beowulf reminds me of a hero because he put his life up for people he cared about instead of cowering in fear like the rest

In my opinion a hero can be just an ordinary person, for example, my hero is my foster mom because she manages to get all the things she needs to get done and still has time to love all of her kids including me.
