Beowulf's Ideal Epic Hero

Beowulf is a hero that saved Hrothgar's men from a beast named Grendel who was killing his men. Beowulf came from another town and told them he would step up and sacrifice himself for the safety of Hrothgar's men and to bring pride to his masters name. He ended up fighting both Grendel and Grendels mother and won both.

The mead hall was a hall that was made for the king, it was one big grand room with lots of lights and gold and was used for gathering after a battle was fought. It was a celebratory place where all the men would gather to drink mead (an alcoholic beverage made of fermented honey and water,) and eat a big meal and party all through the night. It was also used to plan battles and see entertainment. This particular mead hall was made by a man named Hrothgar and he named it Heoret.

They offered Grendel gold so he would stop killing their men them and the way its worried shows its importance, "Grendel refused to stop, even for huge sums of gold."

Beowulf is the Ideal epic hero because he is willing to sacrifice himself to bring honor to his master, he says "I have heard that Grendel does not use weapons, so I intend to kill him with my bare hands and earn more glory in Hygelac’s name." He is a great hero who has earned respect all across the land, and is very well known. He is known for being brave and bringing pride to Hygelac.

Beowulf in the end kills Grendel and brings pride to Hygelacs name like he said he will and the hall was back to the lively place it used to be with battle planning and, celebrating after battles and drinking mead. They were so thankful and Beowulf struck again after Grendels mother came back for revenge again killing her and bringing pride to Hygelacs
