Revisiting the Bernie Madoff scandal brought several facts to light that I was not aware nor interested in at the time that he was arrested. The overarching fact was he cheated thousands of investors out of their money to obtain great profits for himself. Upon reading the headlines, my thoughts were “Meh, this happens far too often. How could those people be so gullible?” In my opinion, donating all of the money that he illegally obtained to charity would not redeem him from the standpoint of Kant’s philosophy.
