Hedges arguments apply to a show called, The Celebrity Plastic Surgeons of Beverly Hills. Like Hedges, this show portrays concepts of celebrity worship and the illusion of faux intimacy with plastic surgeon celebrities. After reading Hedges, it is obviously blatant that our real life is viewed as inadequate and unauthentic. Furthermore, he argues that real experiences can be transformed into a disillusioned narrative. In the same way, the show blatantly illustrates that the experiences of clients are not being portrayed authentically. Right from the beginning, the plastic surgeon spews out how this is the real life of a plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills. Everything is felt to feel normal, but in reality it all looked pre-staged and pre-scripted.
