Heroism is one of the main themes that is shown in “ The Hobbit”. It is mostly shown through the character Bilbo Baggins. A hero is someone who is strong, courageous, bold and a fighter. In the beginning of the story Bilbo is timid, nervous, and unsure of his calling. He likes his life of doing what he wants and living in his hobbit hole. However he is called to go on adventures and lend a helping hand where it is needed. He goes with a group of hobbits that he has only met once or haven’t met at all. He begins to overcome the fear of the unknown. Therefore he has already shown a few of his inner strengths, for example by trying to steal a bag out of the trolls pockets.
