There are about 26 million people living with diabetes in the United States. Which equals to about 8.3% of the U.S population.
The annual cost of diabetes for 2007 in United States is 218 billion dollars. Which is equal to the GDP of the state of Michigan or the country of Argentina
Diabetes can lead to serious complications and is a leading cause of death It causes more deaths a year than breast cancer and AIDS combined. Two out of three people with diabetes die from heart disease or stroke.
