In every story there are multiple themes that helps develop a story. In this day and age there are many stories that is transformed into a movie. In order for these movies to do well they must also have themes that are reflections from the story which it is based upon. The themes that comes from these stories help the development of the movie which is being produced. The stories Birdman by, and Shakespere in love by Tom Stoppard, are filled with magnificent themes that’s readers to understand the stories. While the directors used the themes from these stores to portray the visual concept of the authors work. Ever since he turned down the film he became a washed up actor. With the hopes of reestablishing his career he writes, direct, and staring in a Broadway play based off of Raymond Carver’s story “What We Talk About When Talk About Love”. Another theme is a conflict between Hollywood and Broadway. In the movie, Riggan represents Hollywood, while Mike Sinner represents Broadway because he is known actor in the theater. The first clash is when Mike breaks out of character during the first preview because Riggan brought out water instead of gin. Another theme is trying to become a true actor. This is shown in the movie by Mike. He is a dedicated actor well known to theater critics because of his acting skills. He states that on stage he is real while he pretends in real life. This is why he breaks out of character in the first preview. This is also why Mike and Riggan clashes so much within the movie because, Mike doesn’t feel that Riggin portrays to be authentic in his acting. In the movie this is portrayed by Shakespeare struggling with trying to write a comedic play for the Queen. Philip Henslowe is the owner of the theater which Shakespeare was supposed to be writing a play to be performed there yet he didn’t have a play. And one day Shakespeare ran across a man who then gives him a hint on what direction he should change his story to. Another theme love. Shakespeare lays eyes on Viola De Lessep whom is the daughter of a wealthy merchant. Viola loves literature and dreams of being an actor but in that era women are not allowed on stage. Viola learns that there is an audition to act in Shakespeare’s play and with the help of her nurse she is able to make auditions. Soon after they began practicing for the play, Shakespeare learns of viola’s true identity and they instantly spark a romance. Another theme is the battle between men. Both Shakespeare and Lord Wessex are in love with Viola. Lord Wessex tells Viola that he spoken with her father on taking her hand in marriage, this is heartbreaking to viola.
