Many countries like Argentina, Mexico, Canada, and Pakistan practice Jus Soli, which means that is a right to give the citizenship or nationality of the country and state to those new born. But, the dysfunction of the current US Immigration System has resulted millions of illegal or unauthorized immigrants in the country. Many people suggested to solve the problem of illegal immigration by reinterpreting or changing the fourteenth amendment to the US constitution to eliminate birthright citizenship. However, those who suggest such change encourage those illegal immigrants to remain in the US. Immigrants has been always a concern to the US because Americans think immigrants are dangerous, rapists, drug dealers, violent, etc., and the most common reason for a lot of immigrants to come to the US is either to work or give birth and that will not decrease the number of illegal aliens; unlike the problem will keep growing. Conversely, Linda Chavez express on page 594, paragraph 3 “Repealing birthright citizenship is a terrible idea. It will unquestionably jeopardize the electoral future of the GOP by alienating Hispanics—the largest minority and fastest-growing segment of the U.S. population.” Since Hispanics is the largest group of people in the US, it will highly impact the electoral future. The Fourteenth Amendment provides: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.” Which applies to a person who was entirely native to the United States, not the citizen or subject of any foreign government.
